Amazon.com A singles band if ever there was one, the hits on Pop make the duo of Andy Bell and Vince Clarke of Erasure sound like the Rodgers & Hammerstein of synth-pop disco. With the exception of The Circus and The Innocents albums, most of Erasure's full lengths house only a few brief moments of brilliance, the rest of the songs being limp and uninspired. But putting songs like "Blue Savannah" with its sweeping loveliness, the haunting "Ship of Fools," and the campy, raucous "Love to Hate You" all on the same disc shows that when Erasure is on, they shine like a thousand-carat tiara. The energetic and electronic disco is front and center here with "Oh L'Amour" and the audience participation number "Stop!," but the beautifully crafted "Sometimes" shows the band's true potential. The irrepressible melody line is punctuated by an acoustic riff and a melancholy trumpet solo that actually has to do its best to keep up with Bell's warm lament. An indispensable collection. --Steve Gdula

This Erasure CD is 50-50 November 25, 2008 B Nice (Brooklyn , New York) I was born in the 1980's, so I was only a child when Erasure was doing their thing. I saw the movie D.E.B.S. and heard the song "A Little Respect" and enjoyed it, so I decided to check their other songs. I only liked half of this album. The 10 out of 20 songs that I listen to are: Heavenly Action, Oh L'amour, It Doesn't Have to Be, A Little Respect, Stop!, You Surround Me, Blue Savannah, Chorus, Love to Hate You, and Am I Right? ^^ That being said, I still think that this CD is pretty good. It is cool to go on You Tube and watch ALL the old Erasure videos!!! I think the "Blue Savannah" video is really strange, but I like the song. I feel that the song "It Doesn't Have to Be" is about racism, discrimination, and separatism. The song is saying that we can all get along and the segregation "Doesn't Have to Be." I think the rest of the songs are just about Love, but I could be wrong. Bklyn Bryan
LOVE February 26, 2008 Katie Kryszak (Seattle, WA - USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've owned this CD for ten years and I still listen to it almost every day. I started off just knowing the two great beauties Chains Of Love and A Little Respect, but I quickly came to love every single track on here. This music has the unique ability to be cool, fun, deep and joyful all at once. It always makes me feel wonderful, as if there is true hope in the world, or at least sweet harmony. There is this kind of ethereal quality to the music that I can't quite explain. It takes me Somewhere, to a state of mind where everything is pink clouds and silver knights. I know I'm a freak, but anyone with any worth is kind of a freak, and Erasure is our music.
Great buy November 21, 2007 J. M. Sevilla (San Juan, PR Puerto Rico) It's a great buy for Erasure fans that don't want to buy a lot of albums just to get the hit songs.
ERASURE - Best of the Best August 11, 2007 DonnGee (Emeryville, CA USA) Saw ERASURE for the first time this past June [on the True Colors tour], and was amazed at the show. Immediately ordered this "best of" and love it a bunch. Keep 'em dancing, boys!
Must have for Erasure fans August 17, 2006 rebel_scum (Rochester, NY) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is a classic album for anyone who enjoys 80's synth pop. This has all of the must-have songs from Erasure's 80's releases, from the beautiful "A Little Respect", to the Yaz-sounding "Who needs love like that", as well as their other bigs hits, like "Chains of Love", and "O L'Amour". Really, this CD is worth it just for those four songs, but every song on here is quite good.
