The Iomega Prestige uses a USB 2.0 interface for fast data transfers with universal compatibility. The USB 2.0 interface allows for plug-and-play simplicity with a data transfer rate of up to 480 Mbps. Additionally, the drive is already preformatted NTFS, so you don't have to waste time formatting to use it. The Prestige features a drive with 7200 RPM spindle speed and an 8MB or higher cache buffer. This provides performance that results in fast access speeds and low latency. I have a few different portable drives 1-4TB. This drive works about as well as you would expect. It's not the fastest drive out there. No eSATA, but knew that before I bought it. It is a little noisier than some of the other drives. You can constantly hear it working. I don't know about long term reliability, but great so far. Got it for cheaper than you can find a 1 TB Hard drive, so, satisfied with it.

Not temperamental like Tara from True Blood, but equally awesome. I love my Iomega terabyte ext hard drive!!! It does what I need it to, which is store stuff and not get on my nerves. The noise is minimal (not aurally obtrusive); it has to "breathe" every now and then but it's not a bother. The only thing that bothers me about it is the need for a power outlet. It makes it a little harder to be portable, but I have smaller drives that I use for portability. Regardless, it was a great drive that I bought via Amazon's Gold Box Deals. I'm very satisfied and might get another one.
PS It works great with my Macbook Pro.

Great drive - plugged it in a open USB2 port and started copying data within minutes!
No issues at all worked right away. A perfect USB disk for the price!

This product was very good. Its actually holds a bit less than a terabyte. Around 64 GB less than a terabyte. It is a marvelous product. It works any where. I have had mine for 2 years and it hasn't failed me yet. It has great storage and can be accessed via your computer very easily.
Iomega External Hard Drive for Mac September 7, 2010

Mac compatible hard drive that installed in minutes. Great as a backup to save information but a real pain in the ass to access. I highly recommend getting one of these purely as a backup. Will also be great when you get that brand new Mac and all you have to do is transfer all your files over. For the most part very easy to use. Though I mainly got it to save all my music because I had run out of hard drive space. Now if I want to listen to an album I have to move it from the external hard drive back on to my computer in order for I-Tunes to recognize it. Since I see this more as a Mac problem than an Iomega problem I still gave it four stars. Plus it is pretty cool lookin', can be used on a stand or laying flat, and is very quiet. Overall I think Iomega did a great job on this one and from what I remember I got it at a very good price.
