A nice home printer August 4, 2010 slaphappy I wanted this unit for home use - not for printing photos, but just to have a color printer with copier functionality. It is great for intended use. I had a Canon printer for many years and it simply died one day. This unit was selling for $69.99 when I got it, a very reasonable price.
It is easy to set up (pretty much plug and play, software installed easily) but it's fairly slow to print. Again, it's not for anything more than the kids' school work, my work that I choose to print from home, and other minor things. I could easily print a black/white doc or even a color doc suitable for professional use, but the colors are not deep and saturated.
The ink comes in 4 separate cartridges and I usually buy generic replacements - much cheaper than brand names.
Overall, this is a convenient printer that we've had for nearly a year and it's worked very well.
Warning on little cousin: TX 110-115 July 22, 2010 M. Le Corre (Somerville, MA) 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
I just bought this machine's little cousin - the TX 110-115. Epson advertises that it prints 30 pages per minute when printing in black and white. Mine printed 50 pages of relatively sparse text (script for a play with one line skipped between each character) in 40 MINUTES!!! That's about a page a minute! So if you want speed I would recommend that you take Epson's published specs with a salt shaker large enough to turn the Great Lakes into oceans...
Clunky and awkward to carry May 8, 2010 L. Miller (Virginia) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
For several months I have searched the internet for a lightweight printer/copeier. I found one that supposedly had a carry handle, and would have gotten it but it seems to be out of production. So I bought this one. It weighs around 11 lbs. It's also very clunky to carry, even in its original box in an Ikea tote bag. I will say for the seller - they quickly replaced the first one, which didn't print.
Good Buy. April 27, 2010 404 File Not Found (New Orleans, LA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I needed to replace an older printer and this one does all the scanning and printing that I need it to.
A real ink guzzler. April 20, 2010 Forsythia (CA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I needed a new printer and this looked like a great buy. Not so great, I discovered. Compared to the HP I had before, this has poor print quality, and worse, it absolutely guzzles ink.
My HP had a quick-print setting that allowed me to print decent quality documents while preserving ink. The Epson is lacking that; its "Fast" print doesn't seem to do anything but speed it up, and its "Draft" print is so pale as to be nearly unreadable - useful only for making sure that the elements on a page are correctly laid out.
Given that a full ink refill costs nearly as much as the printer, I will probably go out and get myself an HP next time I need ink. I'll save money in the long run.
